About Us
Brí is a four piece band based on the North Coast of Ireland. Formed about 15 years ago, with Lucy joining in more recent years, they are proud to present their own eclectic fusion of Irish and Scottish music.
The origins of the name 'Brí' in Irish translates as strength, life and vigour. You can be sure to get all of these with a Brí performance, as the most commonly used phrase between the band is often "faster!"

Available for weddings, ceilidhs, concerts and any family or corporate event, music can be tailored or arranged to suit your needs. Our typical set list comprises of 'the fast stuff' - lively reels, jigs, hornpipes and polkas, all interspersed with songs and slow airs when the pace needs to slow down a little.

We aim to preserve the awe inspiring beauty of the music but mould it to every occasion - we really do recognise that every event is different and will make every effort to tailor our music to your requirements.

DEIRDRE TASKER
Flute / Whistle

Deirdre Tasker (Dee) is one of Ireland's most prolific flute and whistle players, and our very own bundle of energy!

Her playing is characterised by her vibrant and ornate style accompanied by a mighty tone. Deirdre was a leading member with the critically acclaimed bands Deanta and the London Lasses, as well as being a seven time all Ireland champion on flute and whistle. Having toured extensively through the USA and Europe throughout her career, as well as playing the Acoustic stage at Glastonbury Festival.

HEATHER MONTGOMERY
Fiddle

Heather Montgomery is our fiddle player, a classically trained musician with a life long love for the traditional music of Ireland and Scotland.
She is well known for whispering 'faster' through a set, but behind that blazing bow is a wealth of experience from a top class musician. But as well as her love of fast paced reels, she also loves a sweet slow air and we challenge you to not be moved by these! She is a phenomenal composer and arranger and can add beautiful harmonies to any setting!

Over the years she has won many competitions, culminating in the 2006 with the All Ireland Senior Harp Championship at the Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann in Letterkenny. Guitar

David is the group's guitarist. He comes from a musical background and was raised listening to his father's fanatical 'fiddling'. At the age of 15 he found the guitar while listening to the Beatles and has never looked back! David is a keen songwriter, whose skills have lead him to musical theatre as well as the folk scene. Having written and directed no less than eight school musicals, he is no stranger to a tune and a great story! Having now retired after a career in education, he is retired to Donegal where he continues to enjoy the vibrant local music scene, and joins Bri for gigs!
